A red hot night in every sense… FutureShock Wrestling’s first visit to the Masonic Guildhall in Stockport would also be it’s very last visit to the place where the company’s journey began fifteen years ago. After hundreds of matches featuring wrestlers from all around the globe, including many that have gone on to be international superstars it was always going to be an emotional experience for everyone in attendance.

In the opening match Kevin Lloyd looked to start 2019 with a victory and found himself face to face with the cunning, manipulative Isaiah Quinn. The self proclaimed ‘Guiding Light’ was keen to get inside his opponents head, berating him verbally as well as physically. In spite of this Lloyd’s proficiency in the fighting arts surfaced with a volley of strikes and a cross armbar for the submission win.

Lana Austin, now the three time FutureShock women’s champion, had the chance to settle an issue that dated back to the Tapped II event in September. On that night the ‘Stunning One’ overcame Shax in a fantastic bout only to have the Ringmistress assault her after the decision. This rematch between two of the fiercest fighters we’ve seen was now even more significant as Lana’s championship was on the line. Despite Shax’s best efforts it was the champion’s night to shine in the building that helped make her the wrestler she is today. An elevated snap DDT was enough to secure Lana Austin’s first successful defence of this reign.

After something of a tainted victory over the Young Guns in December the team of Big Joe and Damon Leigh, known as Big & Brave, were going to have to surrender their numbers advantage. At Underground 30 it was the interference of Joe’s bodyguard Thomas Wolfe that led to a loss for Ethan Allen and Luke Jacobs. On this particular evening J.J. Webb would join the guns for a six man match where the odds would be evened out. Well, that was the plan at least… Early in the match J.J. seemed to take a blow to the eye and ended up walking to the back, presumably to seek medical help. Finding themselves at a three on two disadvantage again Ethan & Luke fought valiantly but eventually fell in defeat.

FutureShock owner and promoter Chris Brooker then revealed that management were aware of The Young Guns ongoing issues with Big & Brave & Wolfe and had a solution lined up. At Uproar 105 on March 17th at Stockport Town Hall, the new home of FutureShock, The Young Guns would face Joe, DDL & Wolfe one more time in six man competition and that their partner would be former WWE Superstar “The Hurricane”!

The first half main event was a debut for Chief Deputy Dunne. Hailing from the Greater Manchester HQ of the Anti-Fun police, this self appointed officer of the law was on a mission. A mission to curtail the fun of everyone at FutureShock. His opponent, Soner Dursun, wasn’t about to let the Deputy get away with that and so began a thrilling encounter of cutting edge wrestling. Despite his best attempts Dunne was incapable of stopping Soner from hitting his exciting, high flying arsenal. It was a win for the high flyer from Manchester who now goes on to face PAC on February 23rd in arguably the biggest match of his career.

After the interval the FutureShock Faithful welcomed Danny Hope and Chris Egan to the ring as they issued an open challenge for their newly acquired FutureShock tag team championships. The challenge was accepted by the upcoming team of Alex Boylin and Rizman Khan, formerly associates of Sam Bailey. Bailey, on commentary, was solidly behind his proteges but this wasn’t their night. Hope and Egan successfully retained their gold but it’s clear that Boylin and Khan are going to have to be taken seriously.

At this point the Guildhall crowd rose to their feet in shock and awe as the champions were unexpectedly joined in the ring by Zack Gibson and James Drake, the newly crowned WWE NXT UK Tag Team Champions. Accompanied by a deafening chant of “FutureShock, FutureShock” Gibson talked about his and Drake’s history with the company, explaining that FutureShock was the place that made them what they are are today. With a nod of respect to Hope and Egan the NXT UK superstar made it clear that FutureShock is in safe hands…

…He then added that it was in safe hands because he and Drake, the Grizzled Young Veterans WERE NOT LEAVING! Squaring off to Hope and Egan they made it very clear that the next time they were all in the ring together they’d be coming for the FutureShock Tag Team Championship. A huge match that would be coming… Soon.

After a years long absence C.J. Banks, the self proclaimed ‘Pound For Pound’ best wrestler in the business returned to challenge Joey Hayes for the FutureShock Adrenaline Championship. Any attempt to describe this match simply wouldn’t do it justice as two of the best to ever lace a paor of boots gave it their all. In the end these two world class grapplers were so evenly matched that neither was able to gain and sustain an advantage. After fifteen minutes the time limit expired with no clear winner. The FutureShock Faithful rewarded both men with a well deserved ovation that swiftly turned to boos as a clearly frustrated Banks chose to assault Hayes rather than show him any respect. This is clearly not over by a long shot.

In the final Stockport Guildhall main event FutureShock Heavyweight Champion squared off with former ally turned foe Henry T. Grodd. The FutureShock Faithful were soundly behind the painted warrior as he unleashed a barrage of blows on his monstrous opponent. Suddenly Crater denounced Grodd as ‘Minion!’ before levelling him with a huge choke slam. The champion dominated his challenger but Grodd refused to stay down, dragging himself back to his feet regardless of the punishment inflicted on him. From out of nowhere Grodd hit a huge uranage slam that stunned both his opponent and everyone in attendance. Sensing his advantage Grodd assaulted Crater, driving him to the floor where the battle became so intense that neither men could answer the referee’s ten count leading to a double count out.

Neither man was done with the other and despite ringside security’s best efforts it was impossible to keep them from continuing the fight. Such was the ferocity with which Crater and Grodd went after each other that the locker room emptied and had to intervene en masse. Even with the collected strength of the FutureShock roster both men broke through and fought once again in the ring. Again the roster seperated them but not before an errant Crater forearm struck John McGregor, one of the crew sent to control him.

As Grodd was led to the back John seized his opportunity and took the FutureShock Champion down with an incredible pop-up DDT. With the faithful cheering him on John took the mic and informed the world that he would cash in his 2018 Legacy Tournament championship match at Uproar 105 on March 17th. Could we see a changing of the guard at Stockport’s Town Hall?
